More than one database can be loaded at a time. They will appear in separate drawing windows. A database is selected by clicking in the respective window, or by using Options…Global…Project to select it. Also, Right Click in the edit window workspace (outside of the edit windows) will access a pop-up menu which also lists the active databases.
