TRAFFIX can write out HCS 3.1c compatible signalized intersection files. During this operation, TRAFFIX creates a separate HCS file for each intersection selected for analysis. Volumes, lane configurations, and saturation flows defined in a TRAFFIX.TFX dataset are imported directly into the appropriate location in each HCS readable file. Because TRAFFIX and HCS interpret the HCM manual methodology in different ways, signal timing schemes may vary. This capability allows TRAFFIX users a more efficient means of analyzing complex intersections. Users preferring the HCS software can use TRAFFIX as a means of rapidly entering geometric and volume data as well as a generating and loading project generated traffic trips into an existing network.
