Route

A route is a one-directional or two-directional grouping of one or more sections. Unlike the requirement specified in the HCM procedures, a route drawn in TRAFFIX is not limited to through movements. Thus, it is possible to include routes that involve T-intersections or otherwise make right or left turns.

Although route analysis is only for one-direction, TRAFFIX allows the user to specify a two-directional route. For such routes, the level of service analysis will be calculated in each direction.

In TRAFFIX, a route has two types of links. There are single links at each end of the route that establish the direction of traffic entering/leaving the route, as appropriate. One goes from Origin to Begin node and the other goes from End node to Destination. The other type of links are located between the Begin and End nodes and make up the actual route length.
