In this step we will draw the path between zone #1 and gate #1.
Click the
button to switch to Edit Paths mode.
The drop-down fields in the upper left corner of the screen will show the selected zone number, gate number, and the paths that already exist between this zone-gate pair.
Make sure zone #1 and gate #1 are selected. If not, use the drop-down boxes to select them. Click the Add Path button to initiate a new path between zone #1 and gate #1.
We will use the default direction (Both), but we must enter the percentage of the traffic between this zone-gate pair that will use this path (e.g., 100.00 in this example).
Using the Shift-LeftClick-Drag keystroke combination draw a marquee box around zone 1, node 3, and the link connecting them. Release the keystroke and all three should change to a highlight color to indicate they have been selected as part of the path. Repeat this selection procedure to select gate #1, nodes 1, 2, 3, and the links connecting them. We now have a complete path between zone #1 and gate #1, and all nodes and links along that path should be displayed in the highlight color.
Once satisfied with the path, go on to the next path (if any) between this zone-gate pair. Start over at step c, above. Then go on to next zone-gate pair (still using zone #1). Again start over at step c, above. When all paths between zone #1 and the various gates have been defined, then go on to zone #2 and repeat the process (steps c-f). For one-way in or out paths, you will need to zoom in so you can select only the correct directional link for the path you are drawing.
(If a one-way path is selected, only links in one direction may be included in the path; if links in both directions are included, an error message will be generated when the user tries to go on to the next path or when leaving the Edit Paths mode.)
Note that TRAFFIX will not allow you to go on to a new path or to exit Edit Paths mode until you have corrected any errors in the current path you have drawn. This provides assurance that you have defined a valid path.
(If you can’t figure out what is wrong with the path you have drawn, simply delete it with the “Delete Path” button and re-draw it.)
Save your work! (see Step 2.5).
