CHAPTER 22: ARTERIAL ANALYSIS

Conceptually, the urban and suburban arterial level of service is relatively straightforward. Running time for a specified group of route sections is added to average delay time at signalized intersections, and the level of service is established by the resulting average travel speed. The TRAFFIX™ implementation eliminates some of the constraints that exist in HCM, Chapter 11, including the requirement that only through movements be involved. Also, the method as implemented in TRAFFIX™ can include delays at all-ways stop intersections as well as at signalized intersections.
