This option permits the user to select or specify certain program performance features, and thus customize the program's operation (see Figure 32 File Preferences Dialog Box). These include:
This causes all nodes, zones, gates, and text fields to be located in a grid pattern with the minimum spacing specified by this preference. This is useful for drawing new networks, but users may wish to turn this off when splicing links, or making fine adjustments to an existing network.
This should always be turned on for typical TRAFFIX™ analysis projects. This prevents the user from constructing networks in which the level of service methodologies can not accommodate (e.g., more than two one-way links attached to a single side of the intersection, more than eight one-way links at a single node, links attached to text objects, etc.).
When a database is opened, the Center command is automatically executed.
When a database is opened, the Show All command is automatically executed.

This number represents the number of dialogs that can be held in the cache, which is used to speed up the operating system's access to dialog boxes. Valid entries are 0, 1, 2, and 3. The higher this number, the more system resources used by TRAFFIX™. If your system tends to crash when opening dialog boxes, try a lower number for this preference entry. Users with relatively fast computers can generally use 0 for this setting.
This function allows the user to automatically use a preferred set of preferences for parameters and settings associated with the network drawing tools. This is done by specifying a name for a template database file that contains the desired User Default settings. See USER DEFAULTS FOR NETWORK DRAWING TOOLS for additional information.
